Striped German is an heirloom, open-pollinated slicing tomato prized for its large, eye-catching fruits featuring golden yellow skin with striking red stripes and marbling that extend through the flesh. The fruits have dense, meaty flesh with few seeds and offer a rich, sweet flavor with low acidity, making them one of the finest tomatoes for slicing and fresh eating.
The vigorous plants produce large fruits that typically weigh 450–900 g (1–2 lb), with some fruits exceeding 1 kg (2 lb) under ideal growing conditions. They are excellent for fresh salads, sandwiches, and colorful serving platters, where their beautiful interior and outstanding flavor truly stand out.
The variety reaches maturity in approximately 80–90 days from transplanting. For the best results in the Gulf region, it is recommended to start seeds indoors during August and September, then transplant seedlings outdoors as temperatures become milder in October for vigorous growth and a generous harvest of premium-quality fruits.
