Rocket Arugula (Roquette) is an heirloom, open-pollinated variety known for its long, deeply lobed dark green leaves and its distinctive peppery flavor with a subtle nutty finish. It is one of the most popular leafy greens for fresh salads, sandwiches, pizza, and pasta dishes, and can also be lightly cooked.
This fast-growing variety performs exceptionally well during the mild growing season in the Gulf countries. It is best direct sown from October through February, with successive sowings every two to three weeks to ensure a continuous harvest throughout the season.
Rocket arugula thrives in fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture to produce tender, flavorful leaves. Baby leaves can be harvested in as little as 25–30 days after sowing, and the plants can be harvested repeatedly, producing fresh new growth throughout the season.
