Sunflower Seeds – Indian Blanket
Indian Blanket is a striking sunflower variety featuring large blooms in warm, vibrant shades of fiery red, orange, golden, and yellow, creating a beautiful multicolored display inspired by traditional Native American blanket patterns. It adds bold seasonal color to the garden and is an excellent choice for fresh cut flowers.
Plants grow to approximately 150–210 cm (5–7 ft) tall with sturdy stems that support impressive blooms measuring 15–25 cm (6–10 in) across. Flowers typically begin blooming 75–90 days after sowing and continue producing blooms over an extended period when spent flowers are removed.
This variety thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and performs exceptionally well in warm conditions, making it well suited for growing in the Gulf region during the cooler growing season.
Recommended sowing time in the Gulf: Sow seeds from September through February to take advantage of the mild weather. Seeds can be started in seed trays early in the season. They do not require light to germinate; cover them lightly with soil and keep the growing medium consistently moist until germination.
Indian Blanket is ideal for large containers, home gardens, and the back of flower borders. It also attracts bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators, making it an excellent choice for creating a vibrant and lively garden display.
