German Organic Chamomile is one of the most popular chamomile varieties, prized for its fragrant white flowers with bright yellow centers. This fast-growing annual is widely used for herbal tea and naturally attracts bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators. It is an excellent choice for home gardens, raised beds, and containers.
Growing in Kuwait & the Gulf Region:
For an earlier harvest, start seeds indoors or in seed trays during August and September, then transplant seedlings to their final location after 3–4 weeks. Seeds can also be direct sown outdoors in October. Sow seeds on the soil surface and cover them with a very light layer of soil (no more than 1–2 mm). Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which usually occurs within 7–14 days.
Chamomile grows best in full sun (at least 6 hours daily) and fertile, well-drained soil. Water moderately, avoiding waterlogged conditions. Plants typically begin flowering 60–90 days after sowing. Harvest flowers when they are fully open for the best quality, then dry them in a shaded, well-ventilated area. This variety is easy to grow, highly floriferous, delightfully fragrant, and ideal for home herbal tea production.
