Gaillardia Seeds - Blanket Flower
Short Description
A beautiful flowering plant producing large, attractive blooms in sunset-like shades of red, orange, and yellow. It offers abundant and long-lasting flowering throughout the season, making it an excellent choice for flower beds, borders, containers, and cut flower gardens. It also attracts bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators.
Specifications
Produces colorful blooms on strong, well-branched, and easy-to-grow plants. It has excellent heat and drought tolerance once established, making it well suited for warm climates and capable of flowering for a long period with proper care. Plants typically reach 30–60 cm in height with a spread of around 30–45 cm, making them suitable for home gardens and containers.
Planting Instructions
Indoor seed starting is recommended from August and early September to produce strong plants and achieve an earlier flowering season. Sow seeds 0.3–0.5 cm deep and cover lightly with soil, as light is required for germination, so do not bury seeds deeply. The ideal germination temperature is 20–24°C, with germination occurring in approximately 10–20 days. Transplant seedlings after several true leaves have developed. Grow in full sun and plant in well-drained soil, spacing plants 30–40 cm apart. Keep the soil moderately moist while avoiding overwatering.
Care
Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming and increase flower production. Apply a light feeding of balanced or organic fertilizer every 4–6 weeks to support healthy growth. Once established, this variety becomes highly tolerant to heat and drought, and avoiding excessive watering helps maintain strong and healthy plants.
