German Giant Radish is an heirloom, open-pollinated variety distinguished by its large, round roots with bright scarlet-red skin and crisp white flesh. It offers a mild, slightly sweet flavor with a gentle radish bite and is especially valued for maintaining its excellent texture and quality even when the roots grow much larger than those of most standard radish varieties. This makes it an outstanding choice for fresh eating, salads, and vegetable platters.
This fast-growing variety reaches maturity in 28–35 days from sowing, although the roots can be left in the ground longer to reach 7–10 cm (3–4 inches) in diameter without losing their crisp texture when properly cared for. German Giant is well suited for cultivation in the Gulf countries during the growing season from October through March.
