Planting Guide: From Seed to Harvest
1. Planting Phase:
Soak seeds in water for 8-12 hours to accelerate germination (optional).
Sow seeds at a depth of 3-5 cm, leaving 25-30 cm of space between each plant.
Ensure the soil temperature is above 20°C (68°F) to guarantee successful germination.
2. Care and Growth:
Irrigation: Requires regular watering, especially during the flowering stage. Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.
Hilling (Soil Mound): Once the plant reaches about 30 cm and yellow flowers appear, you must "hill" the plant by mounding soil around the base. This facilitates the "pegs" (flower stalks) reaching the ground to develop peanut pods.
3. Fertilization:
Peanuts do not require large amounts of nitrogen. However, adding Phosphorus and Potassium enhances pod quality. Applying agricultural gypsum (Calcium) is crucial to prevent "pops" (empty pods).
4. Harvesting:
The crop is ready when the leaves begin to turn yellow.
